One step closer to showing off our stadium

We spend some of today filming on the green screen. Next time all the groups will put the movies and the minecraft videos together.

Soon we'll be able to show our work to the school Board of Trustees and Mr Maindonald so that they will get ideas to build a stadium at our school.

Pink Shirt Day

A group of senior boys got together and promoted the support of Pink Shirt Day.  The whole school got in behind it and showed their support by wearing a pink t-shirt (though, if you didn't own a pink t-shirt red or purple was also fine) and donating to the anti bullying campaign.

The boys organised the sale of bands and pink cupcakes, which all went down a treat!

Vegetable Soup!

Rooms 8, 9 and 10 have been growing silverbeet outside our rooms for the term.  We decided that the best way to eat our silverbeet was to make vegetable soup.

With the help of our book Stone Soup we discovered the best way to make tasty soup is to add lots of vegetables.

Mad 50 Monday

Monday 14th of April we celebrated being at school for 50 days.

We discussed how 50 is half way to 100.  So we came dressed in halves.  Some of us had only half a pair of socks on.  Some of us had half our hair up and half our hair down, or half spiky and half flat.

Room 10 & Room 24's fabulous assembly!

Well done Room 10 and Room 24.

Your video on '24 Things We Should Say More Often was a huge hit.

We used the Kid President as a model to work with.  As a collective you came up with the ideas and sayings we should say more often, then worked together to bring our list of about 50 down to 24.  Next with your buddies, you chose which saying you wanted to show on video and created your presentation to be filmed.
Both Mrs Lupe-Houben and I are so proud of the way you worked as a team with your buddies and classmates.

Our Play was unable to be performed to the whole school, however we had a fabulous audience of parents who took time out of their work schedules to come and watch.  We had raving reviews from all that viewed your dynamic and colourful performance.  Well done Room 10 and Room 24.  You all looked as though you had fun and enjoyed yourselves which is one of the main reasons to perform in front of an audience.

Room 10 and 24 are hosting Assembly this Friday 11th of April

Room 10 and 24 are hosting this week’s assembly, Friday 11th of April.

If you are able to pop into school to watch, assembly starts at 9:45 and runs until 10:30.
If not it will be filmed to the best of our ability and posted on our classroom blogs.
The classes are putting on a short play where they are in different roles. If you are able to help with their costume and mask that would be really appreciated.

West Lynn Gardens and Butterfly House

We all had a great morning at the West Lynn Gardens. We searched through the NZ native bush and through the Petanque terrain, found lovely flowers and spectacular spider webs. Next we headed into the Butterfly house and explored the life cycle in living form. After we sat and ate our lunch in the water view area and had a run around in the open under the trees. Lastly we all sat and sketched a flower that we thought looked interesting. Thank you to our Mums for their parent help today. Your support is very appreciated.
